The celebration of Deacon ordination took place on the 5th of October 2013 in the cathedral of the archdiocese in Zagreb. Two of the new deacons were Missionaries of the Precious Blood; Marijan Zubak, CPPS and Stjepan Ivan Horvat, CPPS. Presiding at the celebration was the archbishop of Zagreb, Josip Cardinal Bozanić. Among the many present were Fr. Wojciech Czernatowicz, CPPS, Provincial of the Polish Province, along with Deacon Krzysztof Surowaniec CPPS and other priests and brothers from the Polish Province; the Director of Croatian Mission, Fr. Ilija Grgić CPPS, and other members of the Mission. Many family members were present with friends, benefactors and members of the Community of the Precious Blood. We thank all who made the celebration more precious and supported our brothers through their presence.

The Cardinal stressed in his homily that only faith will allow the Deacons to understand this vocation and only with faith can they live a life dedicated to God. He emphasized that God himself called them by name, so they do not need to be afraid, because He is with them. The Lord will lead them and give them strength in this mission. At the end, he encouraged them to lead exemplary lives and not to be a bad example or to demand awards for the ministry. Rather they must do everything for God as a labor of love for Him and for the souls that are entrusted to their care.
We thank God for the two new Deacons in the Community and we ask that you include them in your prayers.
