The members of the CPPS Province of Tanzania celebrated the Extraordinary Electoral Assembly in Kisasa Dodoma from January 13 – 15, 2020 at St. Gaspar’s Hotel and Conference Centre. The Assembly was supervised by the New Moderator General Fr. Emanuele Lupi. The inauguration Mass was presided and preached by Fr. Emanuele, at the end of which the Assembly invoked the Holy Spirit asking for wisdom and guidance at this time of the life of the Province. It should be remembered that this Assembly was necessary following the resignation of the Provincial Director in July last year elected during the 2nd Provincial Electoral Assembly.
During the second day of the Assembly, the Moderator General spent a couple of hours giving the spiritual context of the CPPS leadership. He reminded the members of what is contained in the Normative Texts – leadership as common responsibility (#49) and the human and supernatural qualities of leadership (#51). The same day Fr. Vedasto Ngowi was elected Provincial Director; since he was formerly the first councilor and Vice Provincial his position was filled by Fr. John Greyson Msengi. However, there was a need for the third Councilor without portfolio at which Fr. Alessandro Manzi was elected.
Therefore, the new Provincial leadership team is as follows: Fr. Vedasto Ngowi – Provincial Director; Fr. John Greyson Msengi – First councilor and Vice Provincial; Fr. Felix Mushobozi – second Councilor and Provincial Secretary; Fr. Alessandro Manzi – third Councilor without portfolio; Fr. Dominick Mwaluko – fourth Councilor and Provincial Treasurer.
The third day was dedicated for reflection on future direction of the Province guided by the Moderator General. He took some reflections from the Message of the XXI General Assembly to help the province in planning for the future using the theme of the General Assembly – “Becoming New Wine”. The Assembly was closed by the Eucharistic celebration presided by the new Provincial Director Fr. Vedasto Ngowi on Wednesday January 15 at 11:30.
