Santa Galla Nursing Home in Łabuńki is an important place belonging to the Congregation of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood in Poland and this year we are going to celebrate the 25th anniversary of this activity. Most of all, the Nursing Home commits itself to help people with cancer and other terminal diseases. Although the principal task of the Congregation is to preach the Word of God, I think that this minister suits perfectly our charisma. It is also an answer to “The Cry of the Blood” coming from the suffering people and their families who are carrying the weight of an incurable disease. Once Pope John Paul II said: “where there’s a suffering person, there must be another one supporting him”. This is the reason why every day the Missionaries of the Precious Blood, the staff and the volunteers bring help and support to the people living such a difficult moment, when they become aware that their life on this earth is about to end. Moreover, the Missionaries play an important role in the spiritual and sacramental assistance of the patients. And near the people who are suffering and dying we can learn an important life lesson of humility. Through our activities and by living in parishes and meeting people, we try to raise sensitivity to that in every person, most of all children and youth. At the moment, nearly 120 schools collaborate with our Nursing Home as volunteers. Thanks to our activities, we’d like every person to become aware and sensitive towards the sufferings of our neighbours. Many are the people involved in this program, and thanks to their help the “Cry of the Blood of Christ” is becoming louder and louder and reaches every corner of the country. It is remarkable that 25 years ago some Missionaries and laymen decided to support people in need. Today I thank God because the founders are still with us and the number is rising more and more. Finally, I hope that this facility continues growing in the next few years and will help every needy person.
