Rev. Ramón Rodríguez Navas, C.PP.S., May 27, 1946-January 9, 2017

After a long illness, Rev. Ramón Rodríguez Navas, C.PP.S. died on January 9, 2017 in Caceres, Spain.  He was a member of the Iberian Province of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood and was living in Cáceres, Spain.

Fr. Ramón was born on May 27, 1946 in Coria, Spain and was definitively incorporated into the Congregation on November 30, 1969.  A year later, on July 5, 1970 he was ordained to the presbyterate.  During his priesthood he spent many years in the educational apostolate and in parish ministry.

Bishop Francisco Cerro Chaves, the ordinary of the diocese of Coria-Cáceres, presided at the funeral mass on January 11, 2017 in the parish of San Mateo.  The bishop stressed that Fr. Ramón was an integral part of the community in Cáceres.  He commented in his homily that three words describe Fr. Ramón:  Pastor, Missionary, and Precious Blood.  Bishop Cerro Chaves said, “He was a simple and humble pastor.  He had a passion to spread the Gospel.  And the same blood shed by Jesus was shared by Fr. Ramón to everyone he met.”

Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.  May he rest in peace.  Amen.
