Rev. Fabian Ruganyiza, C.PP.S., December 12, 1965 — May 21, 2016

Fabian (1)On May 21, 2016 Fr. Fabian Ruganyiza, C.PP.S. died from complications related to kidney disease.  Fr. Fabian was a member of the Province of Tanzania and was ordained to the priesthood on August 29, 1999.

Fr. Fabian was born on December 12, 1965 to Fidelis and Generosa Rweyemamu.  Following his primary and secondary schooling he entered formation with the Missionaries of the Precious Blood in 1990 and was definitely incorporated on July 27, 1998 at St. Gaspar College in Morogoro.

After his ordination to the priesthood, Fr. Fabian ministered in various parishes until his health required him to move to the Itigi community and then the Procura in Dar es Salaam for medical treatments.

Despite the long sufferings of about 17 years, Fr. Fabian was very patient and endured his pains without any complaints. He was physically weak but very active in conversations always being ready to share different ideas with people and even cracking some jokes. In this way he lived the words of St. Gaspar who said “Let us learn the sufferings of people …” and he prayed for the spirit of wisdom to know how to count his days (Psalm 90:12).

A funeral mass was celebrated on May 26, 2016 and Fr. Fabian was buried in the C.PP.S. cemetery in Manyoni.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.  May he rest in peace.  Amen.
