Reimagining Process Moves Forward in Latin America

Article C61 of the Normative Texts reads in part, “The Moderator General’s first duty is to animate and renew the spirit of the Congregation, and to promote its expansion.”  Since the beginning of his administration, V. Rev. William Nordenbrock and the General Council has focused much of their time and energy on revitalizing the Congregation around the world.  They have engaged with different units in this reimagining process in order to strengthen the vitality and viability of the Congregation.

Further steps were taken during the Meeting of Major Superiors in September of 2016 during which the Latin American, North American, and European regions were each asked to plan some concrete steps to move forward through the reimagining process.

The Latin American region, consisting of the Brazilian Vicariate, Chilean Vicariate, Peruvian Mission, Central American Mission, Colombian Mission ad experimentum, and the members of the Atlantic Province serving in Mexico, gathered at the end of February in Colombia to continue the process of reimagining the Congregation’s future in Latin America.

The directors and representatives from each unit gathered with Nordenbrock and Rev. Emanuele Lupi, C.PP.S., the Vice Moderator General, to engage in an appreciative discernment process.  Their goal was to arrive at a common vision for the Missionaries of the Precious Blood in Latin America and to map out the next steps in the reimagining process.

The vision which was discerned calls for the creation of a single Latin American Province.  In addition to arriving at this goal, the members also decided to form several commissions which will be tasked with implementing this vision.  One of the first steps will be to have a common retreat in the autumn of 2018 at which all the members in Latin America will be invited.

Much work, as seen on the papers hanging on the wall, went into the meeting.
