The Province of Tanzania was erected on August 8, 2015 and subsequently held its first Electoral Assembly in September 2015. The Province celebrated another “first” when the first Business Assembly was held June 12-14, 2017 at St. Gaspar Hotel & Conference Centre, Kisasa – Dodoma.
The Assembly began in the evening of June 12 with the invocation of the Holy Spirit during the Eucharistic Celebration presided over by V. Rev. Chesco Msaga, C.PP.S, the Provincial Director. In his homily, he noted that the Assembly was an opportunity for the Missionaries to meditate on their commitment as a Province, asking the Holy Spirit to remind them on what they ought to do as a Province, rather than on what they want to do. He asked those gathered to be docile to the Holy Spirit who units them in the Bond of Charity and makes them use their talents with commitment for the benefit of the Congregation.
During the Assembly the Missionaries reviewed their pastoral plan and discussed several significant events and challenges in the life of the Province. Fr. Msaga affirmed that the Province of Tanzania is committed to collaborate with other C.PP.S. units in the apostolic work around the world. Acknowledging the financial constraint of the Province, he urged members to explore different opportunities for ministry. The Assembly afforded the Missionaries an opportunity to recharge themselves and evaluate their commitment to serve God and his people through the Congregation.
The next two days were dedicated for discussions on five items of the agenda beginning with Mission Expansion, Caring for Sick Missionaries, and a review of three important documents – The Provincial Formation Program, The Profile of the Provincial Project Office (PROPO) and the Statutes for Lay Associates (Mwongozo wa Utume wa Walei wa Damu – UWADA). The Assembly had an opportunity to discuss each item and make recommendations to the Provincial Director and Council before they are officially approved according to the Provincial Statutes.
The Assembly concluded with the celebration of the Eucharist and the celebration of the 25th anniversary of ordination of Rev. Emmanuel Kimoruru, C.PP.S.
