We, the General Administration of some of the Congregations of the Family of the Precious Blood, would like to invite you to a prayer for peace.
On February 24, a year ago, the war in Ukraine began. As a Family of the Precious Blood, we cannot be content to see in the delivery of tanks and other weapons the way to peace. Every human life is infinitely precious! In the Blood of Jesus, we human beings are close to each other (cf. Eph 2:12) and as the Family of the Precious Blood we want to pray for and work for peace.
We propose that in the place where you are, with the community in which you live, whether that is your convent, a parish, a school, etc., you meet on February 24 (also the feast day of Blessed Tommaso Fusco, founder of the daughters of Charity of the Precious Blood) at a time that suits you for a prayer for peace. As a Family of the Precious Blood, on this day, together with many united with us, we unite ourselves into a worldwide network.
The organization of such a time of prayer is up to you: Whether you pray the Stations of the Cross on Friday during Lent, use a prayer from our tradition (e.g., the Seven Offerings), or the prayer for peace in Ukraine from Taize (https://www.taize.fr/en_article33422.html), or simply spend some time in silence. Perhaps some may also wish to support the prayer by fasting together…. Let’s do it together on 2/24!
We ask you to tell us about your prayer, send a photo, write a few lines and we can then share your reports on our pages for all to see.
