On May 23 the Cincinnati Province of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood gathered to welcome two new members into the Congregation. During the annual Provincial Assembly, James Smith, C.PP.S. and Matt Keller, C.PP.S. were definitively incorporated. Dozens of Missionaries and Companions joined the friends and families of Matt and James during the liturgy.
Matt Keller, C.PP.S. is originally from Maria Stein, Ohio and grew up in a parish staffed by the Missionaries. Following his incorporation, he is taking part in a clinical pastoral education program in Columbus, Ohio. He will return to Catholic Theological Union in the fall for his final year of theology. Keller said, “I have been in formation with community for a number of years now and I have gotten to know the community and the community has gotten to know me. At some point I began to feel like a Missionary of the Precious Blood. Definitive Incorporation made it official that I am a Missionary of the Precious Blood for the rest of my life.”
James Smith, C.PP.S. grew up in Pekin, Indiana and came to know the Congregation at Saint Joseph’s College which is sponsored by the Missionaries of the Precious Blood. Upon graduation he entered formation. When asked what definitive incorporation meant to him, Smith said, “It is a commitment from me to more fully live out my baptismal call within this community and to receive support along the way from members of this community, and it is a commitment of me to be there to support others in their living out their baptismal call within this community.” Smith recently finished his theology studies and was ordained a deacon. He will be ministering in the St. Henry Parish Cluster in Mercer County, Ohio.
