New Church of Saint Gaspar del Bufalo Consecrated in Tanzania

The newly established Province of Tanzania marked the Solemnity of St. Gaspar in a special way this year.  In addition to the usual festivities marking the feast day of the founder of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood, this year on October 24, the church of St. Gaspar was consecrated by Cardinal Polycarp Pengo, the Archbishop of Dar es Salaam.  The liturgy of consecration calls for an anointing of the altar and walls of the church building with sacred chrism.

Several Missionaries of the Precious Blood were joined by the local clergy, members of other religious congregations, and countless parishioners.  St. Gaspar’s Parish was founded in 2007 and serves as a pilgrimage center in the Archdiocese of Dar es Salaam.
