The Hispanic American Student Youth Congress organized by the “San Francisco de Borja” College was held October 23-25, 2014 in Lima, Peru.  The purpose was to deepen, spread and share the spirituality of the Blood of Christ among students of the Hispanic American schools, who are part of this family: San Francisco Javier School, Fuente de Cantos – Spain, Precious Blood School, Buenos Aires – Argentina and Preciosissimo Sangue School, Manaus – Brazil, San Francisco de Borja Parish School and Ernesto Merino Rivera School – Montero, Piura (Peru).

The conference sought to help the participants understand Precious Blood Spirituality within the educational context.  The primary message was that schools are meant to become sacred places where everyone is supported and valued.  Precious Blood schools are also places to prepare oneself for the mission.  The presenters stressed that being a missionary is not  wearing a costume, it is creating a life habit. The first task is to open oneself to others with a smile so that others feel welcome.

The importance of leadership was discussed as well.  Being a leader inspired by the spirituality of the Blood is being concerned about the welfare of all. Shared leadership is the kind of leadership that Christ asks of us. All are called change our mindset and to participate actively in the different campaigns and missions organized by our schools and also offer our life witnessing, through the plan that God has for each one of us.

These were great days, where participants: students, teachers, and priests from different cultures and languages, shared not only moments of formation and entertainment, but also their experiences. This symposium was a chance to further Saint Gaspar’s dream and celebrate 200 years of the founding of the Congregation.
