Missionaries of the Precious Blood, Kansas City Province hosted 146 members and companions for their annual assembly, held in Kearney, MO, June 4 through 6. Special presenter was theologian Bill Huebsch. The community also celebrated the definitive incorporation of three candidates, a covenanting ceremony for companions and the jubilee anniversaries of six members.

Mr. Huebsch presented workshops on the history, context, and political issues of Vatican II, the documents created by the council, and ways in which clergy and laypersons can keep the goals of Vatican II alive in parishes. Mr. Huebsch established The Vatican II Project in 1990, which contributes to the effort being made within the Church to keep alive the spirit and energy of Vatican II.

The Assembly also celebrated the definitive incorporation of three candidates from the Vietnam Mission during the Tuesday evening Mass: John Vianney Loi Nguyen, Joseph Truc Vu and Peter Tam Hoang. At the same Mass, the community celebrated the covenanting ceremony of over 40 Companions; one newly covenanted with the remainder renewing covenant. Fr. Joe Nassal, CPPS,  Provincial Director, presided and Fr. Lac Pham, CPPS, Director of the Vietnam Mission, preached the homily.

The Wednesday evening Mass and following banquet celebrated the Jubilee Anniversaries of six Missionaries of the Precious Blood. Fr. Vince Hoying celebrated his 60^th anniversary of ordination. Fathers Paul Sanders and Jim Sloan celebrated their 50^th anniversaries of ordination. Fathers Joe Uecker and Mike Volkmer celebrated their 50^th anniversaries of incorporation. The Mass and banquet also celebrated Fr. Larry Cyr, who was unable to travel to the celebration, for his 75^th anniversary of incorporation.
