On 21 October 2024, an indulgenced Mass in honour of St Kasper was held at the University Church of the Holy Name of Jesus in Wrocław. The Society of the Precious Blood is active in this parish and we have been celebrating the indulgenced feast together for several years. We invited the Sisters of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, members of the Association from other parishes and friends. Our Community of the Precious Blood was represented by members from all over Wrocław. On this day we wanted to be all together in forming the Family of the Precious Blood to celebrate the Precious Blood of Our Lord, to thank God for St. Gaspar and to ask through his intercession for the graces needed. 

The celebration began with adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in silence, much needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of this world and enter personally into God’s space. After the silence, we moved on to the recitation of the Holy Rosary in which not only adults but also children and young people participated.

During his homily, Fr Kamil said that we are gathered as a community which in a special way venerates the Blood of Christ, the Blood with which we were redeemed and which is the source of our salvation. We are to learn from Jesus how to live love, how to be merciful. Fr Kamil pointed out our role in the church. He said that we are to notice those who are lost and lead them to Christ as a source of strength. For us too, the Blood of Christ is to be the power to rise from our falls. 

It was a great joy for us to sing the hymn to the Precious Blood, the hymn of St. Caspar and our beautiful song ‘May Thy Holy Blood guard me…’.

We thank God that we were able, as the Precious Blood Family, to celebrate the Precious Blood of Our Lord and to ask, through the intercession of St. Gaspar, for the graces needed, especially for the revival of our community life.
