Gathering of Young Missionaries in Europe

The Italian Province hosted a gathering of recently incorporated Missionaries of the Precious Blood from the European region on September 7-10.  Over a dozen Missionaries from the Croatian Mission and the Iberian, Italian, Teutonic and Polish Provinces gathered for four days of community building, spiritual reflection, and prayer.

The Missionaries toured various sites in Rome related to the life of St. Gaspar and traveled Sonnino, Spoleto, and to the Abbey of San Felice in Giano to visit the foundation house of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood.  A highlight of the gathering was a trip to Campoli Appennino, which holds a special place in the history of the Congregation.  St. Gaspar preached a mission here in 1824 and subsequently became the patron saint of the town.  Each year the residents of the town celebrate the life of St. Gaspar with processions throughout the town.  One of the miracles attested to during St. Gaspar’s canonization process also took place in Campoli Appennino.

Despite different languages and coming from different places throughout Europe, the young Missionaries renewed the bonds of community which unite all the Missionaries of the Precious Blood throughout the world.
