During the second half of 2011, the Latin American Special Formation program in Guatemala has focused upon several themes. The first has been a study of the history of the Congregation and the current reality of our international Congregation through the eyes of Fr. Lucas Rodriguez, C.PP.S.  Secondly, through the help of Fr. Antonio Baus, C.PP.S., we have studied the Rule and Normative Texts of our Congregation as well as the Statutes of each of the units participating in the shared Latin American Special Formation program.

Earlier, in the first half of the year, we spent time with Fr. Barry J. Fischer who shared with us a study of the spirituality of the Precious Blood.  Through the help of Fr. Marco Tulio Recino, C.PP.S., we discovered a greater appreciation of the life of St. Gaspar and with input from Fr. Sebastian and Fr. Rony we studied more deeply the C.PP.S. Charism.  This has been a productive year where all of us could learn more about our Congregation and share the realities of our countries of origin as they fit into the larger context of personal growth, community life and mission.

In addition to the studies, this year in Special Formation has given us the opportunity to experience missionary life in the local communities of San Miguel Archangel Parish, Tucuru and input on personal growth through a workshop at the Institute of Spirituality of CEFAS.  In the day to day rhythm of life we have also shared in home tasks and responsibilities, community prayer, the Eucharist, apostolic ministry and other playful activities that strengthen community ties in the bond of charity. Through an environment of prayer and mutual support all of these experiences are helping us to grow in our vocational discernment as we prepare to make Temporary Incorporation with the CPPS Congregation in our home unit.
