
At 9.30 pm on Monday 25 April, Fr. Tullio Veglianti passed away peacefully in the infirmary of the Community of Albano Laziale, lovingly assisted by his brother Sergio and the missionaries in prayer.
In 2019, Fr. Tullio began to have memory failures. The doctors diagnosed that it was an onset of Alzheimer’s.
Fr. Tullio was born on July 13, 1939 in Filettino, a small town in the Province of Frosinone. He was the third of six children.
He had entered the minor seminary of Albano in 1951. From an early age he manifested a particular aptitude for music. He successfully studied violin and at the same time he devoted part of his time to studying the piano.
On July 3, 1966 he was ordained a priest in the chapel of the College of Via Narni by the laying of the hands and prayer of Cardinal Luigi Traglia, Vicar General of the Pope for the Diocese of Rome.
A few days later he was appointed to ministry at Precious Blood parish in Florence. In 1973 he obtained a doctorate in Philosophy from the Gregorian University of Rome.
In the same year, he was transferred to Rome with the role of pastor in the Parish of Saint Gaspar.
In March 1983, after having obtained a doctorate in Dogmatic Theology at the Gregorian University, he moved to Sonnino.
After this experience, the superiors entrusted Fr. Tullio with the direction of the Philosophical-Theological Seminary in Piazza dei Crociferi 49.
Seven years later, he re-entered parish ministry as pastor of Saint Gaspar parish in Rome.
In 2003 he was entrusted with the management of the Center Sanguis Union Christi .
From 1988 to 2009 he taught theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University and from 1988 to 2011 he taught at the University of St. Thomas Aquinas “Angelicum”.
On Wednesday April 27 his funeral was celebrated in the Shrine of Saint Gaspar, in Albano Laziale. The Holy Mass was presided by the Provincial Fr. Terenzio Pastore and concelebrated by about thirty Missionaries from various communities. The body was then transferred to Filettino to be buried in the family tomb.
