Fr. Robert Reinhart, C.PP.S., 84, died Saturday, June 2, 2012, at 6:20 p.m. in the infirmary of St. Charles Center, Carthagena, Ohio. He had been in failing health for some time.

He was born on July 12, 1927, in Bryant, Ind., to Peter and Cecelia (Schritz) Reinhart.  He entered the Society in 1941 and was ordained on June 4, 1953.

Fr. Reinhart spent much of his life as a priest in parish ministry. His early assignments included Sacred Heart Church in Sedalia, Mo.; St. Joseph Church in Hamilton, Ohio; St. Mary Church in Centerville, Iowa; and St. Joseph Church in Dayton.

In 1974 he was named chaplain at Providence Hospital in Sandusky, Ohio. He returned to parish ministry in 1982, when he was named pastor of St. Wendelin Church in St. Wendelin, Ohio. In 1990, he was named pastor of Holy Trinity Church in Bryant, Ind., where he served for 14 years until his retirement to St. Charles, where he has made his home since 2004.

Fr. Reinhart was very happy to return to his home parish, Holy Trinity, and become its pastor. Being close to home and close to his family meant a great deal to him, and he took great pride in his stewardship of the historic church and its picturesque grounds. He chose to be buried there in the church cemetery, near his parents. The church’s current pastor, Fr. David Hoying, will assist with the internment.
