After a journey marked by suffering and illness in his last days, on November 3, Fr. Armando Tavares Perira Alves, of the Iberian Province, died quietly and went to his heavenly Father’s home. The funeral was celebrated the next day in the parish church of Proenca a Nova (Portugal).
Fr. Armando was born in Nova Proenca on July 11, 1950. He was the son of Joseph and Maria do Carmo Pereira Tavares. He was ordained a priest on July 7, 1974. He enthusiastically devoted much of his young life in the minor seminary of the community, in the Fraternal Convivios movement and as a professor of moral and religious education in a public school. He lived in the communities of Vila Vicosa and Proenca a Nova, Portugal.
Fr. Armando worked tirelessly as a missionary, teacher, pastor, spiritual advisor and preacher.
May he rest in peace.
