On Wednesday, October 21, on the occasion of the feast of St. Gaspar, the founder of the C.PP.S, two candidates: Ivan Orejas and Karlo Mario Patrovic made their first promises (temporary incorporation) to the Congregation of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood.
They maid their first promise during the Eucharist presided by Rev. Ilija Grgic, C.PP.S, director of the Croatian Mission. The other definitive incorporated Croatian Missionaries concelebrated during the Eucharist and renewed their promises to the Congregation. They accepted the candidates warmly and with brotherly love and congratulated them on their first promises. During his homily, Rev. Ilija invited the faithful to pray for Mario and Ivan to persevere in their vocation. He said that they should not be carried away by the applause they received when they put on the cassock because the crowd applauded Jesus and acclaimed Him as a King at the entrance of Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, and only a few days later they shouted: Crucify him!
In his homily, Rev. Ilija outlined the most important tenets of the Missionary vocation – he is the one who imitates Christ, removes divisions among people, and is inspired by the Word of God as St. Gaspar. On this occasion, the Provincial of the Polish Province Rev. Wojciech Czernatowicz, C.PP.S, sent the candidates a picture of the relic of the Precious Blood of Christ from the Shrine in Częstochowa.
