Father Lucas Rodriguez Fuertes, CPPS returns to the house of the Father.

Father Lucas Rodriguez of the Latin American Province of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood died on April 4, 2021 at the age of 81 in his room at Casa Gaspar in the city of Ananindeua-Pará, Brazilian district of the Province. .

Father Lucas was born on March 25, 1940 in Posadilla de la Vega, León, Spain. He entered formation with the Missionaries of the Precious Blood in 1960 at the major seminary in Cáceres. He was definitively incorporated into the congregation in Rome on December 29, 1961 and ordained a priest on July 5, 1964.

Father Lucas did most of his ministry in Brazil where he was also naturalized as a Brazilian citizen. He arrived in Brazil in 1965 and served as pastor and director of the vicariate on various occasions. In 2007 he was elected as General Councilor and served in Rome for 6 years. In 2013 he returned to Brazil to serve as associate pastor in the Parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Altamira-Pará and was also appointed member of the ecclesiastical tribunal of the Diocese of Xingu. In 2019 due to health problems he moved to live in the community of Casa Gaspar in Ananindeua where he finally passed away.

 

 

A funeral mass was held on April 6, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish presided by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Belém, Mons. Alberto Taveira Correa.

His remains were buried in the Santa Isabel cemetery in the city of Belém in a tomb owned by the congregation.
