Father Louis Schmit, CPPS, Receives Humanitarian Award

Schmit-Father-LouisFather Louis Schmit, CPPS, was honored with the Four Chaplains Foundations’ humanitarian award at Buckeye Boys State at Bowling Green State University on June 16.  The Four Chaplains Foundation, based in Philadelphia, gave the award in recognition of Father Schmit’s “services to all people regardless of race or faith.”

Father Schmit, a retired U.S. army chaplain who this year celebrated the 50th anniversary of his ordination, has volunteered as a chaplain and staff member at Buckeye Boys State for the past five years.  Buckeye Boys State, sponsored by the American Legion, hosts over 1,200 high school juniors each summer in a full-immersion, hands-on experience that teaches them about state and local government.
