The Missionaries of the Precious Blood held their biennial Meeting of Major Superiors from September 11 to September 17.  Twenty-two directors from all of the provinces, vicariates, and missions gathered in Rome along with the Moderator General and General Council for the week long meeting which was hosted by the Italian Province.

The participants gathered each day for the celebration of the Eucharist and for four work sessions.  As was the case in the previous meeting in 2014 in Tanzania, the Message of the 20th General Assembly guided the discussions.  Each director reported on the progress they have made in implementing several of the mandates from the General Assembly.

In addition to reports, the directors began the planning for the Community Life Symposium which will take place in the summer of 2018.  They also reviewed and approved several policy revisions.  One day was devoted to “Reimagining the Future” of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood.  This was a chance for the directors to share with one another about the challenges and opportunities which lay before the provinces, vicariates, and missions.  Each region of the Congregation has mapped out several steps that will ensure a stronger vitality and viability for the units.

After a week of meetings, the directors spent the final day touring the Apostolic Palace at Castel Gandolfo and the adjacent Papal Gardens.  The day ended with a festive pranzo with the Missionaries at the Sanctuary of St. Gaspar in Albano.
