On October 3, 2015 the Missionaries of the Precious Blood in Croatia celebrated the ordination of Davor Lukačević, C.PP.S., to the diaconate.
Cardinal Josip Bozanić, the Archbishop of Zagreb, ordained him along with eight other from the archdiocese to the order of deacons. The Apostolic Nuncio in Croatia, Archbishop Alessandro D’Errico, auxiliary bishop Dr. Ivan Šaško, and a large number of priests from different religious orders concelebrated the mass. The choir consisting of candidates for the priesthood of the Archdiocese of Zagreb provided the music for the liturgy.
In his homily, the Cardinal highlighted the role of the deacon in the Church. He said, “God’s gift for you today is the Holy Spirit in order to serve and carry the service. You must imitate Christ who did not come to be served, but to serve. Do not be lords, but be servants.” He pointed to Blessed Aloysius Stepinac, who was beatified 17 years ago, as an example to be followed. He was an example of humility and patience, faith and love, which many witnessed day-to-day until the end of his life. Blessed Aloysius will soon be canonized.
