Since the Vicariate discerned a dream of becoming a Province in 2012, we have met frequently to pursue our dream.  Our latest work occurred at our Business Assembly and Vicariate Conference, June 10-14, 2013. This continued the work of the Business Assembly in January of this year.  Our meeting was held in Miyuji Dodoma.

During the Assembly, our desire and work of becoming a Province was the main agenda item.  We also addressed these issues:  a proposal to establish social services at Mtumba and Mwiboo located in the districts of Dodoma and Manyoni respectively and a request from the ASC concerning one of the houses.

The CPPS Normative Texts and the instruction we have received from the CPPS General Curia requires a lot of documentation for the Vicariate to make a request to be elevated to the status of a Province.  One necessary document are the proposed Statutes of the new Province. Whereas the discussion on the proposed Provincial Statutes took a long time, we progressed in this work in a calm manner.  However, the issue of the required financial self-sufficiency resulted in a hot discussion.

The initial reading of the Vicariate’s financial reports and future budgetary needs gave the impression that financial self-sufficiency would be impossible.  However, a new financial projection of possible income offered us  hope, but it would require that each member maintain his enthusiasm and commitment for the move from a Vicariate to a Province.

The members of each of our local communities worked together to schedule a monthly and annual contribution. This work assured each member of the possibility of sustaining the future Province, although the financial support of the seminaries remain a concern.

At the conclusion of the 3 day Business Assembly, we continued with the Vicariate Conference.  The purpose of this gathering was to receive reports from the communities, offices and institutions.  This provided an overview of the unit and gave room for discussing difficulties.  These discussions ended well but with a profound awareness that “there is nothing sweet without sweat.”
