On 29^th June 2012, on the Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul, CPPS Vicariate of Tanzania inaugurated the Bicentenary, hence beginning its three years of intense reflection and journey towards the climax of Bicentenary to be celebrated in 2015.

The Inauguration ceremony was held at the Body and Blood of Christ Church at Kola Morogoro.  Officiating as the delegate of the Bishop was the Rev. Patrick Kung’aro- the Vicar General of Diocese of Morogoro.

The ceremony was attended by around 500 people including CPPS Missionaries, seminarians, religious and lay representatives from the various places served by the missionaries of the CPPS Vicariate of Tanzania.

In his opening speech, Fr. Reginald Mrosso, CPPS, the Vicariate Director, gave a brief history of the CPPS (worldwide in general and Tanzania in particular); inviting all people with good will to join the Vicariate in her gratitude to God for the immense graces enjoyed by the Congregation since its foundation in 1815 at St. Felix Abbey, Giano-Umbria in Italy.

Fr. Reginald Mrosso continued by inviting all people to enter into the three years of preparation of the great Jubilee; each year reflecting a sub theme as follows: history (2012/2013), reconciliation (2013/2014) and finally, responding to contemporary challenges (2014/2015).

As a sign of such opening, Fr. Reginald Mrosso ignited the Big Jubilee Candle bearing the Bicentenary Emblem and motto: Sharing a Drop of Love. To ensure that the Jubilee spirit and celebration spreads all over, local superiors of the communities of CPPS Tanzania, accompanied by members and the laity of those particular communities, lit medium size candles bearing the same emblem and motto. These candles were taken to their particular communities and centers of apostolate.

By the fact that the event was broadcasted by Radio Mwangaza Fm (belonging to the Vicariate) and by Radio Maria Tanzania, it is hoped that the news effectively reached many people. The celebration of the event in districts will offer more spiritual impact to the people.

Blood of Christ ̶ fountain of love and mercy, save us!
