Celebration of the Bicentennial in the Italian Province

The past month has been a special one for the entire Congregation of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood, the Italian Province, and the community at Giano.  On August 14, members and seminarians of the province, and a great number of the faithful gathered at the Abbey of San Felice to commemorate the Bicentennial of the foundation of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood.  The celebration began with the Vespers of the Assumption of Mary and also included a eucharistic celebration presided over by Bishop Renato Boccardo.

The celebration included the unveiling of the newly painted frescos in the courtyard of the Abbey.  The frescos depict the history of the Congregation from its founding to the present day.  The seminarians of the Italian Province also performed the musical, “Vorrei avere mille lingue” [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][I wish I had a thousand tongues] which they had written.  The musical has been performed on six different occasions.  Following the performance, as midnight approached, the bells of the Abbey rung in glory after being silent for fifty years.

On August 15 mass was celebrated in the morning and to this was joined the inauguration of a new statue of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the piazza of the Abbey.   Following the festivities, everyone enjoyed refreshments and time to share in friendship and community.  The celebrations were brought to a close with a concert by the accordionist Fucelli and his orchestra.
