Bicentennial celebration in the Vicariate of Brazil

The celebration of the Bicentennial of the Congregation of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood of Christ in the Brazilian Vicariate took place on August 15.

Preparations for the celebrations took place in different places and different times. In Altamira (Para), at the parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, in July there was a Mass with the whole parish community. Father Arcelino Magalhães (current Vicar) together with the seminarians have visited various communities along the river (Xingu) where the CPPS are present. Along the way they also visited families, they took part in the celebrations, meetings and missionary animation.

In Ananindeua (Para), at the parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe, from 11 to 15 August there were a series of moments of meeting, which began with a “themed coffee”, lectures, exhibitions, films, workshops, conferences with youth, biblical and gymkhana show with the launch of a CD. The Eucharistic celebration, the 15th was presided over by Archbishop of Belém, Archbishop Alberto Taveira, and soon after, a community lunch was served.

Many people joined in the celebrations, including parishioners, aspirants, seminarians, and religious men and women from other congregations and religious communities. We were also accompanied by the Adorers of the Blood of Christ (ASC) and several members of CPPS.  This was a time of great joy, which contributed to the spread of spirituality, the mission, and the charism of our congregation.
