The Atlantic Province of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood have been working for decades to bring water and education to the people of Tanzania. To celebrate this commitment and to raise funds for the continued support of this missionary work, the Atlantic Province hosted a Gala on October 21, 2016, the Feast of Saint Gaspar del Bufalo.
The evening included several keynote speakers who highlighted the work that has been done over the past decades. Of special note were the comments from members of the Gagliano family. They gave a heartfelt thank you to Brother Anthony Canterucci, C.PP.S. who dedicated close to forty years of his life to building the C.PP.S. Mission Projects. It was a touching tribute, spanning generations.
V. Rev. Mario Cafarelli, C.PP.S., the Provincial Director of the Atlantic Province, welcomed the attendees and introduced a new project the Province is embarking on. The funds raised at the gala will be directed towards the building of dormitories for the John Merlini Secondary School. Rev. Francesco Bartoloni, C.PP.S., the manager of the Mission Project Schools in Tanzania was on hand to share his experiences and explain the real need for the dormitories.
The night also included entertainment by the Swahili Congregation at St. Roch’s parish as well as a performance by Liberty Silver, a Grammy and Juno award winning singer.
