A New Province for Latin America

The members of Latin America gathered from January 27 to the 31 at Chaclacayo, Peru for their first electoral assembly discerning the leadership team that will guide the Latin American Province during the next 4 years.

After a week of discernment there were elected Provincial Director Fr. Maximo Mesia, Vice-provincial Fr. Omar Cerda, Chilean district Councilor Fr. Luis Briones, Brazilian district Councilor Fr. Arcelino Batista, Peruvian district Councilor Fr. Dionisio Alberca, Guatemalan district Councilor Fr. Rony Diaz, and Colombian district Councilor Fr. Joseph Deardorff.

The assembly was closed with the mass of creation of the New Latin American Province  and installation of the new Provincial at San Francisco de Borja parish in the city of Lima. The mass was presided by Fr. Emanuele Lupi, Moderator General. Concelebrating during the mass were the Provincial of the Teutonic Province, Fr. Ferdinand Zech, the Polish Provintial, Fr. Wojciech Czernatowicz, and Mons. Lino Panizza, bishop of Carabayllo. After the mass, the Missionaries gathered at the San Francisco de Borja School’s Gym for a reception party with the parish community and many friends that came to celebrate with the CPPS community this important event in the life of our congregation.
