On January 21, during a Eucharistic celebration that took place in the chapel of the Major Seminary of the Italian Province, the Provincial Director, Don Terenzio Pastore, CPPS, accepted into the Congregation, as Auxiliary Missionary, Don Matteo Ortu, priest of the Diocese of Oristano, Sardinia . As Auxiliary Missionary of the Precious Blood, Don Matteo received the Crucifix. During the homily, Don Terenzio said of Don Matteo that he is: “close to the spirituality of the Precious Blood, he testified with this choice his will to live his consecration to the Lord more deeply, through the deepening of the mystery of the Blood of Christ. Yesterday, (Don Matteo) during the celebration, he donated to the Congregation the chasuble of his priestly ordination, entrusting the Missionaries with his journey of holiness “.
The Auxiliary Missionaries of the Precious Blood are an ancient institution in the Congregation. They are mostly diocesan priests who decide to deepen the Spirituality of the Precious Blood and with the permission of their bishops, they take part in some ministries of the Congregation. Among the most illustrious Auxiliary Missionaries of the Precious Blood we can mention Blessed Pope Pius IX and Cardinal Alessio Ascalesi, Archbishop of Naples.
