Atlantic Province: New Life News for the month of July

We have great news to share!  The Catholic Calling app which the Vocations Ministry has been developing is in its beta phase of testing.  All the province members have received a copy and are providing feedback to the Vocations Director before the final version will be available of Google Play and the Apple Store for free downloads.  We invite you to check it out in August!

Additionally, many of our Canadian-based members came together at St. Charles Borromeo parish in Toronto to celebrate the Feast of the Precious Blood with a barbecue hosted by Fr. Mario Cafarelli and Fr. Gerardo Laguartilla.   Each of our community houses takes a turn to host one of our feast days, and it is always a great time to catch up with one another and to celebrate our unity in the Blood of Christ.   

In other news, Fr. Sam D’Angelo became the new director of the Diocese of Sault Ste Marie’s Office for Ecumenism and Interreligious Dialogue and was invited by Bishop Dowd to attend the CCCB-sponsored Forum on Dialogues to re-launch the Ontario Conference for Christian Unity, Religious Relations with the Jews, and Interfaith Dialogue.  The event was held from June 27 to June 29th at St. Augustine Seminary in Toronto.  Forty-five Catholic representatives from all over Canada attended the event, including ten bishops.  

The purpose of the event was to develop a national strategy for ecumenism sponsored by the Canadian bishop’s conference.  To do this the participants were given the opportunity to network with other ecumenical and interfaith Officers as well as the Commission’s Dialogue Representatives, and to learn from each others’ experiences.  

Ad Intra strategic goals were to form bishops and ecumenical officers to carry out the responsibilities associated with the search for Christian unity in all Canadian dioceses as well as to establish a national commitment to ongoing education of laity, seminarians, and clergy at all levels on the how we can all contribute to ecumenism.
